The nails are quite similar to hair in that they both consist of dead skin cells. Although just like hair, nails play an important role and must be strong as well. Besides bitten nails, unhealthy nails can be given away in a few ways, such as white spots (often a zinc deficiency) and nails that often break and peel.
According to WebMD, “Warning signs for many other conditions, from hepatitis to heart disease, may also appear in the nails… Changes in the nails can be a sign of a local disease like a fungus infection or a sign of a systemic disease like lupus or anemia.”
Excessive Body Fat
There are many reasons that people hold excess body fat, such as:
An unhealthy diet,
Lack of Exercise, and/or
A detrimental lifestyle
But body fat may also be an indication that something else is going on within the body. Perhaps the body’s metabolism is slowing down, or the thyroid is having issues. If you feel that you’re doing everything right when it comes to your weight loss regimen, it may be a good idea to speak with a medical professional who can see to it that there isn’t something else going on.
Not only is excess body fat an indicator of poor health, but it is also a predictor of poor health. Even if you’ve never been diagnosed with any major health issues, being overweight, let alone obese, puts a person at serious risk for many medical issues such as heart disease and stroke.
Instead of relying on your yearly physical for a doctor to tell you that something’s wrong, if they’re luck y enough to even catch it, use these signs to pay attention. While you don’t need to spend hours staring at the mirror looking for something wrong, it is important to be more cognizant of any signs of poor health.
